January 4 Flex Day Information

If you are … 

  • Not approved for the Flex Day on Monday, Jan. 4, please contact your principal for Professional Learning opportunities. You may also use a Vacation or Personal Leave day. 
  • Approved for the Flex Day*, you do not need to register for a session. 

* Exempt employees (employees who are not eligible for overtime/comp time – teachers, principals, asst. principals, counselors, nurses, diagnosticians, librarians, etc.). Exempt employees must complete the Flex Day Request form in Eduphoria! to submit up to six hours per Flex Day of professional learning to be considered for approval by their principal/supervisor. 

Non-exempt employees (employees who are eligible for overtime/comp time – EAs, admin. assistants, clerks, etc.) must get written approval from their supervisor for District work or professional learning completed outside the regular workday from June 1, 2020 to December 11, 2020. Comp time may not be used. 

Vacation or personal leave may be used in lieu of professional learning hours, or employees may report to their campus/department for a regular workday.

Summer School Administrator Applications Now Open

BISD is now accepting applications for summer school administrators. The deadline for secondary and elementary positions is Jan. 8; bilingual administrator applications are due on Jan. 15.

Elementary students across BISD submitted artwork to be considered for the District’s 2020 Holiday Card Contest. 

Artwork from Benjamin Torres, fourth grader at Binion Elementary, was selected as the winner; Carsyn Allums, fifth grader at Porter Elementary, was selected as the second-place winner; Blayden Bolton, second grader at Hardeman Elementary, was selected as the third-place winner; and Lara Ida Feijão, fifth grader at Green Valley Elementary, was selected as honorable mention. #BISDShines

BISD Now Offering Rapid COVID-19 Testing for Symptomatic Staff ONLY

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 9, BISD is now offering free Rapid (15-minute results) COVID-19 tests for symptomatic staff ONLY from 6:308 a.m. MondayFriday at the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL). The BCTAL is located at 7020 Mid Cities Blvd. in North Richland Hills. 

BISD is offering this testing to symptomatic employees ONLY. Students and community members will be directed to other testing sites in the area.
